Bio augmentation

Bio augmentation

Controlling organic contaminants is a key objective of many wastewater treatment plants. Ensuring the healthy growth of beneficial microorganisms is critical to the efficient operation of secondary treatment systems, which are designed to remove organic contaminants. We at Purlieus offer bio-augmentation products and services to support healthy and efficient microorganism growth and performance to your wastewater treatment plant.

Bio-augmentation: The term is used to describe the addition of cultured microorganism to the subsurface that are capable of biodegrading or transforming specific groundwater/soil contaminants.

It is used to treat or degrade organic wastes and pollutants with naturally occurring microorganisms. Each Bio Clean Bacterial Product is formulated specifically with naturally occurring bacteria blended with bio nutrients and stimulants. The bacteria are selected for their ability to rapidly and completely degrade organic solids. With unique technologies accompanied by industry leading expertise, Purlieus provides a total wastewater treatment solution that:

  • Enhances microbial populations and degradation of organics
  • Provides micronutrients and stimulants for growth under a wide array of conditions
  • Lowers treatment costs for reuse
  • Improves community image and minimizes the potential for fines and/or extra compliance costs from regulatory authorities

Advantage of Bio-augmentation

  • Degrades fats, oils and grease
  • Reduces BOD, COD
  • Increase MLSS and MLVSS
  • Reduce the blower running hr
  • Increases plant efficiency
  • Non-hazardous
  • Non-corrosive

Because microorganisms are the heart of any biological wastewater system, it makes sense that by enhancing the microbial community, the overall wastewater system can operate more efficiently. The purpose of bio-augmentation is to supplement the existing microbial community in order to improve its functionality. Bio-augmentation offers many advantages over traditional technology platforms like chemicals, equipments, or other consumables, and has been used in secondary wastewater treatment systems for decades.
